We are thrilled to announce that six of our seven wines captured medals at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition this year — including a Double Gold for our 2021 Syrah.
We also won Gold medals for our 2020 Prosperous and 2023 GSP Red Blend.
Our 2024 Mia Rosé, 2020 Cabernet and 2023 Viognier earned Silver medals.
Lauded for its high caliber of judging, the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition is the largest competition of North American wines. Judges blind-tasted thousands of wines this year in a competition that was fierce with exceptional entries, according to the Chronicle. More than 1,100 wineries from throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico submitted more than 5,500 wines.
We are especially proud of our Double Gold recognition!
As this means that every judge on a tasting panel unanimously voted to award our 2021 Syrah a Gold Medal. These awards are exceptional, often requiring a retasting of golds.
Our vineyards were established in 1998, then reimagined in 2024 as Four Ponds Estate Winery under the ownership of Suzi Raposa. This is the first wine competition Four Ponds has entered.
“To be able to achieve such accolades as a new winery is both thrilling and an affirmation that our wines are exceptional,” Suzi says. “We are humbled and inspired to keep making great wines.”
In the year ahead, we look forward to being able to produce our wines onsite in our new production facility. We also highly anticipate the opening of our tasting lounge.
