Hello there, welcome to our second issue of the Four Ponds Estate Winery newsletter. It has been a busy but very productive summer here. Sometimes while in the midst of the grind, it’s hard to see the progress at hand. But when we take a step back we’re pleasantly surprised by the cumulation of accomplishments. Since late spring the newly planted vines are growing well, construction on the production facility is full steam ahead, we are incredibly excited to have our wines available for online purchase and launching the wine club as well. Check it all out here…

Winemakers Corner
Harvest and crush is here again in the blink of an eye. Weather has played an instrumental role with the vines, and contrary to what I would have thought, the milder summer allowed the vines to ripen at a steady pace. Too much heat can actually cause a pause or a shut down of ripening. The grape clusters can experience dehydration over ripening. This year we look for the brix or sugar level as well as the acidity, ph levels and of course taste. You’ve got to get out there and sample the grapes.
Harvest starts late at night or very early morning, the cooler temp is ideal to harvest and pick. This is when you start to see the fruits of the labor. There is also a peaceful calmness working out in the vineyard under the stars. The pick is a great time to see nature at work with the praying mantis keeping guard over the vines. The mantis are a sign of balance and sustainability. From the vineyard to the cellar the grapes will be destemmed, sorted, crushed and cold soaked for reds or sorted and whole cluster crushed for whites. Then the real magic begins over the next few days and weeks as fermentation kicks in. Stay tuned for more.
Construction Updates
Our production facility started looking like an actual structure by the end of the summer. When complete, we’ll be able to do everything at the vineyard — from crushing to bottling and distribution. And once our licensing is complete, we can even host events there. We love the rich merlot hue of our building and can’t wait for it to be up and running.
Next up, is the tasting lounge.

Our 2021 Syrah, is complex, smooth and earthy, with a rich toasted oak finish. 75% Syrah, 25% Malbec, aged in 25% new French oak, it pairs well with grilled meats, poultry, strong cheeses or hearty pasta.
Our 2023 GSP is 64% Syrah, 29% Grenache and 7% Petite Sirah. This easy-to-drink GSP exhibits notes of cherry and raspberry, with hints of light spice and a smooth oak finish. It pairs well with light pasta or noodles, seafood, chicken and spicy sauces.
