Welcome to Ponderings, our first Four Ponds Estate Winery newsletter. We’re located on an 80-acre estate in Plymouth, California, which is part of the Sierra Foothills in Amador County.
We have 24 acres of well-established vineyards that was planted by the Spinetta family, whose roots run deep in Amador County. We are honored to continue to be good stewards of the land they once cherished.
Our production facility and tasting lounge are currently under construction, with completion expected sometime later this year. Our modern tasting lounge will have sweeping views of the estate, which includes the four ponds, for which we are named.
Our team includes proprietor, Suzi Raposa, winemaker Rich Owings and business development and operations manager Vonne Keobouala. We’re really excited to join the community of Amador County winemakers and Steiner Road wineries and vineyards. We look forward to welcoming guests and helping them celebrate their big occasions, small wins and quiet moments with us.

Winemaker’s Corner
This summer we removed five acres of old vines and replanted new ones. We planted 2.5 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and one acre of Malbec. These are the first new varietal additions to the vineyard. Over the next few years, we will add several more varietals to establish an estate-grown variety of both red and white wines that reflect our vision and our growing region.
Construction Updates
This spring/summer, we cleared land and broke ground on our production facility and tasting lounge. By the end of June, we saw progress on our production building, with underground plumbing and trench drain excavation.
On the lounge side, we’ve had fun selecting the pretty stuff like furniture and wine glasses.
Buy Our Wines
We’ve started direct-to-consumer wine sales and are establishing our Wine Club.
We have four varietals: 2024 Fair Play Viognier, 2020 Prosperous Fair Play Red Wine Blend, 2020 Fair Play Cabernet Sauvignon and 2020 Mia, Rose of Grenache. Coming soon, 2024, Sauvignon Blanc.
Coming This Fall
We look forward to our private Friends and Family First Release party in September, followed by our second annual vineyard grape crush. Last year, we harvested throughout the night and enjoyed the energy of winery festivities all along Steiner Road.
Our neighboring vineyards hosted celebratory events that included food, music and wine, drawing enthusiastic visitors throughout the week. We can’t wait to be able to host our own crush events once our tasting lounge open.
